The temperature in Delhi was recorded at 6 degrees Celsius this morning due to which the chill has increased in the morning. According to the Meteorological Department, due to the active Western Disturbance, the sky may appear cloudy as the day progresses. The sky may remain cloudy till 16 December. During this period the minimum temperature can be recorded at six to eight degrees Celsius.
The coldest night of this season was recorded in Srinagar where the mercury dropped to minus 5.3 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain mainly dry till December 15, but there is a possibility of light rain during the weekend.
The mercury dropped significantly in many tribal dominated districts of Odisha due to which the cold wave started increasing in the state. On Thursday, a drop of two to four degrees Celsius is expected in the night temperature at many places in the state. Bhubaneswar-based Meteorological Center Director HR Biswas said that cold wave conditions are expected to persist in most parts of Odisha till January 2.
Talking about the weather of Bihar, in many districts here, due to the westerly wind, one starts feeling cold in the evening. The minimum temperature is stable at 9 degrees Celsius for the last three days. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the night and day temperatures will fall further. This will increase the cold. The weather has changed rapidly in the last four days. The westerly wind that has been blowing for two days has increased the cold.
Cold has increased in all the districts of the state including Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. The minimum temperature of Ranchi is being recorded below seven degrees. Ranchi-based weather center head Abhishek Anand said that there is no possibility of any major change in the minimum temperature in Jharkhand during the coming five days.
Cold winds have completely changed the mood of the weather in Uttar Pradesh. Melting has increased in most parts of the state. According to the Zonal Meteorological Centre, Lucknow, the weather in the state is currently dry. Similar weather is likely to prevail in the coming days also. Dense fog conditions will be seen in the state on December 14.
According to the Meteorological Department, a fresh western disturbance may affect the Himalayan region from December 16. However, the department has expressed the possibility of dry weather in the area till December 19.
According to Skymet Weather, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in Lakshadweep on Thursday. Light rain is expected over Northeast India and at one or two places over Tamil Nadu, Kerala and at one or two places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Sikkim. Light to moderate fog may be seen in parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar and Odisha.
