Before this, two storms had already hit in October. These storms were Tej and Hamun which had recently left the Indian coastline and turned towards Yemen and Bangladesh.

According to a report by Skymet Weather, in the last 10 years, many storms hit the country this month. From 2013 to 2022, 18 tropical storms have occurred in the Bay of Bengal, while 10 storms have occurred in the Arabian Sea in the post-monsoon season.

The worrying thing is that in the last two years there has been no storm in the Indian Ocean in the month of November. Thus, only 5 storms occurred after the monsoon in 2021 and 2022, but in October 2021, there were 4 storms in the Bay of Bengal and only 1 storm in the Arabian Sea.

In the last 10 years, 7 storms have hit the Bay of Bengal in November. Whereas, only 4 tropical cyclonic storms have come from the Arabian Sea. The frequency of storms decreases rapidly in the Arabian Sea in December compared to the Bay of Bengal. It had experienced only one storm, Pawan, in December 2019. That too was far away from the Indian coast in the western parts of the Arabian Sea.

There were also two strong storms named Gulab and Vardah which passed through both the oceans in the year 2021 and 2016.

The Northeast Monsoon has remained quite mild since its onset on October 21. Activity has increased in the last 24 hours and is likely to continue for the next few days.

According to Skymet Weather, there is no major disturbance in the seasonal north-easterly current passing through the Bay of Bengal and southern parts of the Arabian Sea. According to this, there is no possibility of any storm in the first fortnight of November.
