IMD has said that the withdrawal of monsoon has started in the country. The withdrawal of monsoon has started in India from Monday, eight days after the normal date of 17th September. IMD has said that the southwest monsoon has started withdrawing from parts of southwest Rajasthan from Monday. The normal date of its return from south-west Rajasthan was 17 September. With the delay in the withdrawal of monsoon this year, this is the 13th consecutive time that the monsoon is returning late. Any delay in the withdrawal of monsoon could mean prolonged rainy season which could have a significant impact on agricultural production.

Rain alert in many states

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert predicting heavy rain in Bihar, Jharkhand, Sub Himalaya, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, South Gujarat, and Maharashtra in the next 24 hours.
