Tuesday started with severe cold and fog in Delhi. Earlier on Monday, as the day progressed and the sun started shining, people got relief from the shivering cold. The minimum temperature was recorded at 3.3 degrees Celsius on Monday morning, which was the lowest temperature of this season. India Meteorological Department has predicted very dense fog on Tuesday.
The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in most of the districts of the state including Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, from Wednesday to Friday. According to the Meteorological Department, cold wave conditions persist in Purulia district. According to the department, Purulia was the coldest place in the plains of the state. The weather department has predicted light rain in the districts of South Bengal from Wednesday to Friday, while most of the districts in the northern part of the state are likely to receive light to moderate rain during this period.
Cold havoc continues in Jharkhand. It is extremely cold in the morning and evening. It is becoming more cold in Palamu division and surrounding districts. In the capital alone, the minimum temperature has fallen by seven degrees Celsius in the last five days. The Meteorological Center has predicted that there may be rain in some parts of Jharkhand on 17 and 18 January. During this period the minimum temperature may rise slightly. Due to decrease in maximum temperature, the feeling of cold will increase.
There was a cold-day situation in Patna, the capital of Bihar, for the fourth consecutive day on Monday. According to the report released by the Meteorological Center, the minimum temperature of the city may increase by two to three degrees Celsius in the next three days. At present, cold westerly winds are blowing in entire Bihar including Patna. A cyclonic circulation has formed over southern Bangladesh. Due to this the weather is changing. Cold day situation may arise on Tuesday also.
At present, severe cold has troubled people all over Uttar Pradesh. The mercury has fallen up to three degrees Celsius in many districts. According to the Meteorological Department, some changes may be seen in the weather after January 16. There are chances of dense fog at some places in the state and very dense fog at some places. Cold day or severe cold day may be seen at some places in the state.
According to Skymet Weather, there is a possibility of light rain and snowfall at one or two places in the upper reaches of the Western Himalayas. Also, there may be light rain in Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. There are chances of light rain at isolated places in Odisha, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Kerala.
According to Skymet Weather, cold day conditions may be seen in parts of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and at one or two places in north-western Rajasthan. Cold wave conditions may be seen at one or two places in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.
