Low air pressure is being created over the Bay of Bengal, there is a possibility of rain in these places
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that a cyclone is likely to form over southeast Bay of Bengal around May 6 and as a result, a low air pressure area is likely to develop in the next 48 hours. The IMD’s statement came after the US weather forecasting system Global Forecast System (GFS) and the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) predicted the formation of a cyclone over the Bay of Bengal.
Chances of cyclonic storm less
IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said that some systems have predicted it to be a cyclone. We are watching. Updated information will be provided regularly. Private weather forecasting agency Skymet Weather said that there is very little chance of a cyclonic storm in the first fortnight of May 2023. No cyclonic storm developed in the Indian Ocean in April. Thus, this is the fourth consecutive year when there was no cyclonic storm last month.
There is no effect on the arrival of monsoon due to the cooling of the land due to rain.
Senior meteorologists said that the spell of rain over large parts of India is unusual, but it will not delay the arrival of monsoon due to cooling of the land. The Indian monsoon is governed by the temperature and pressure difference between the Indian land and the Indian Ocean. During the summer months the land heats up, creating an area of low pressure that draws moist air from the ocean, resulting in rainfall. There are concerns that the cooling of the land due to prolonged rain spells could weaken the low pressure area and reduce the force pulling moisture-laden air from the ocean. As a result, the arrival of monsoon rains may get delayed. According to the data of the India Meteorological Department, for the last three days the maximum temperature across India remained below 40 degree Celsius.
