A satellite photo was taken on January 1 in which a layer of fog is visible over Punjab, North Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, North-West Madhya Pradesh, South Uttarakhand and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. This picture has been released by IMD. A dense blanket of fog was seen across North India including Delhi.
At some places in the eastern and western parts of Rajasthan, chill was felt even during the day due to cold wind blowing and drop in maximum temperature on Sunday. The Meteorological Department has predicted that the period of dense fog in the state will continue for the next 3-4 days. Very dense fog (visibility less than 200 meters) is likely to be recorded at isolated places in the northern parts of the state in the next 48 hours. The weather in the state may remain mainly dry for the next 5-6 days.
The cold has now intensified in Bihar. Cold day conditions have been created in Bihar due to westerly wind blowing at the speed of 15-20 kilometers per hour. During the next 2 to 3 days, dense to very dense fog may be seen over many parts of Punjab and Western Uttar Pradesh and during the next 48 hours over Haryana and Eastern Uttar Pradesh.
