Due to the impact of cyclonic storm ‘Michong’, there was heavy rain in some parts of Andhra Pradesh. Before the cyclone hits the south coastal region, the state government has issued an alert in eight districts. The districts where alert has been issued include Tirupati, Nellore, Prakasam, Bapatala, Krishna, West Godavari, Konaseema and Kakinada. A severe cyclonic storm is likely to hit near Bapatla on Tuesday afternoon, with wind speed of 100 kilometers per hour. The Meteorological Department has predicted that this type of situation will continue till December 7 and after that it will turn into an intense pressure area.
Abhishek Anand, director in-charge of the weather center, said that on December 6 and 7, almost all parts of the state may receive light to moderate rain. It will remain cloudy till 8th December. Due to this, the minimum temperature will remain high, while due to clouds the maximum temperature may fall. The sky may clear from December 9th. After this the minimum temperature is expected to fall.
There is a possibility of light rain at some places in the south-central, south-east and south-west regions of Bihar. The maximum possibility of rain is till December 7. IMD Patna has not yet issued any alert in Bihar regarding the storm.
The weather pattern in Uttar Pradesh has deteriorated since Monday morning. The weather has become cold due to rain. The wind is also blowing. Due to this, a drop in temperature has been recorded. Zonal Meteorological Center Lucknow has expressed the possibility of rain and thundershowers at different places in the state on Tuesday.
According to Skymet Weather, there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain with strong winds at the speed of 90 to 100 kilometers per hour in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. Light to moderate rain may occur over parts of East Telangana and Odisha along with heavy rain at one or two places.
According to Skymet Weather, there are chances of light to moderate rain in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and southern Jharkhand on Tuesday. Light rain may occur at one or two places in Vidarbha, Telangana, Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Kerala.
In view of the severe cyclonic storm ‘Michong’, the Odisha government has deployed rescue teams in the southern districts of the state as a precautionary measure. The storm is expected to make landfall near Bapatla, between Nellore and Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh, on Tuesday. IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mahapatra said that it will not have any major impact on Odisha.
Due to incessant rains on Monday, many parts of Tamil Nadu’s capital Chennai and its neighboring districts were submerged, throwing life out of gear at these places. The weather office has said in its latest report that there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain and strong winds in four districts.
