At present, the deep depression formed in the Bay of Bengal is moving towards north-east direction at a speed of 17 kilometers per hour, due to which there is a possibility of rain in the states like Bangladesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday that the deep depression area formed in the Bay of Bengal can take the form of a cyclonic storm by Friday and cross the Bangladesh coast. The Meteorological Department said in one of its bulletins that on Thursday the pressure area strengthened and took the form of a deep pressure area and it is moving in the north-northeast direction at a speed of 17 kilometers per hour.

He said that at 8.30 am on Thursday, it was about 390 kilometers east-southeast of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and 320 kilometers south-southeast of Paradip in Odisha. IMD said in the bulletin that this system is likely to continue moving towards north-northeast direction and strengthen into a cyclonic storm in the next 24 hours and cross the Bangladesh coast between Mongla and Khepupara in the early hours of Saturday. Wind speed can reach 55-65 kilometers per hour up to 75 kilometers per hour.

An official of the Meteorological Department said that due to its effect, there will be heavy rainfall in many parts of Odisha, especially the coastal areas and strong winds will blow at the speed of 40 to 70 kilometers per hour. Fishermen have been advised not to go into the deep sea till November 18, because the situation there will be very bad during this period.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain at many places and heavy rain at some places in the coastal districts of Odisha and West Bengal on Thursday and Friday. Apart from this, rain is also expected in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during November 16 to 18 and South Assam and East Meghalaya on Friday. At the same time, according to weather forecaster Skymet, some coastal places of Odisha and West Bengal like Satpara, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Baleshwar, Baripada, Digha, Contai, Diamond Harbour, Haldia, Nandigram and South 24 Parganas are likely to experience stormy weather and heavy downpours. There is a possibility of rain. It rains during this period. The meteorologist said that Medinipur, Howrah and Kolkata will maintain a relatively safe distance from the center of the depression. However, there is a possibility of cloudy sky with moderate or light rain.

The Meteorological Department has predicted wind speed ranging from 35-45 km per hour to 55 km per hour over Tamil Nadu as well as South West Bay of Bengal on Thursday. It has also predicted gale force winds with a speed of 40-50 km per hour and gusting to 60 km per hour along the coasts of Andhra, Odisha and West Bengal.
