There has been a huge drop in temperature in Himachal Pradesh due to rain and snowfall in the upper areas of the state. Along with this, the Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ warning of heavy rain and storm on Monday. According to the India Meteorological Department, the effect of western disturbance is likely to continue in the state till Tuesday and it is likely to stop from Wednesday.
Chuddhar range in Sirmaur, Rohtang Pass and Jalori Pass in Kullu and Hatu Peak and Chanshal in Shimla received snowfall. It was cloudy in the state capital and it rained in the city as well as in Solan. Dalhousie received six cm rainfall while Shimla, Solan, Mashobra, Narkanda, Palampur and Paonta Sahib received one to four mm rainfall.
Keylong in the tribal Lahaul and Spiti district had the coldest night so far this season, where the temperature was recorded at 1.1 degrees Celsius, while the temperature in the upper areas and mountain passes dropped below zero.
It rained in parts of Punjab, Haryana and the joint capital of the two states, Chandigarh, on Monday, due to which the temperature dropped slightly. According to the Meteorological Department, Haryana’s Ambala, Hisar, Sirsa, Fatehabad and Kurukshetra along with Punjab’s Ludhiana, Patiala, Bathinda, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ferozepur and Mohali also received rain till 8.30 am on Monday.

Ajay Kumar, a resident of Chandigarh, said, “I was going to drop my children to school at around eight in the morning, when visibility had reduced due to dark clouds. Apart from this, due to the strong wind just before the rain, dust was flying all around, making it difficult to drive.
After the rains stopped for some time in Kerala on Monday, water has started receding in most of the areas affected by floods and waterlogging. Many areas of Kerala capital Thiruvananthapuram were waterlogged on Sunday. However, water has still not receded in low-lying areas like Kochuveli, due to which timings of many trains have been changed.
Railways said that the Thiruvananthapuram Central-New Delhi Kerala Express, which was scheduled to depart from the state capital at 12.30 pm on Monday, was rescheduled to depart at 7.35 pm due to non-recession of water at the Kochuveli pit line.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said a cyclonic circulation is forming over coastal Tamil Nadu and neighbourhood, as well as over the southeast Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep area along the Kerala coast.

Many areas of Thiruvananthapuram were waterlogged on Sunday. According to visuals shown on news channels, heavy rains led to waterlogging in streets, roads and low-lying areas of Thiruvananthapuram. Water entered hundreds of houses and vehicles were seen half submerged at many places.
Hundreds of people were evacuated from their homes and taken to relief camps set up in the district. The state government said that this situation arose due to heavy rains since Saturday night and sea water not receding. The minimum temperature in the national capital on Monday morning was recorded at 21.1 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal. At the same time, the Air Quality Index (AQI) remained in the moderate category.
The Meteorological Department has predicted partly cloudy sky and light rain or drizzle in Delhi during the day. According to the department, the maximum temperature in the city may remain around 32 degrees Celsius. On Monday morning, the relative humidity of the city was 67 percent and the air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 195.
