In Chopra, North Dinajpur, West Bengal Border Security Force (Trinamool Congress’ agitation continues over the unnatural death of four children in BSF controlled area. Trinamool has also accused the Border Security Force (BSF) of negligence regarding the incident. However, BSF has called this allegation baseless. Meanwhile, regarding the incident, Trinamool has urged Governor Dr CV Anand Bose to visit the spot and “fix accountability”. In this regard, on Thursday, a delegation of Trinamool leaders met the Governor at Raj Bhavan, which included party state general secretary Kunal Ghosh, Minister of State for Finance (Independent Charge) Chandrima Bhattacharya, Ministers Arup Biswas, Udayan Guha, Education Ministers Bratya Basu, Dr. Shashi Panja, Birbaha Hansda, Gautam Dev, MP Dola Sen and MP Pratima Mandal were included.

Governor gave assurance

Trinamool leader Kunal Ghosh told reporters after meeting the Governor that the Trinamool delegation spoke to him regarding the incident at Chopra. Besides, a request was made to visit the incident site, talk to the people there to find out the situation and inform Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the matter. The Trinamool leader says that Union Home Minister Amit Shah should answer regarding this matter, because BSF comes under the purview of the Union Home Ministry.

Apart from this, Trinamool accused the Governor of politicizing the ongoing unrest in Sandeshkhali and urged the Governor to also look into the administration’s report on this issue. To ensure that he does not see the matter as one-sided, he should also talk to the concerned officials of the police and administration. A memorandum was also submitted to the Governor on behalf of Trinamool regarding the above matters.
