Panagarh, Mukesh Tiwari: On Tuesday, a truck going towards Durgapur went out of control and hit a bicycle and a bike on Highway No. 19 near Birudiha in Kankasa police station area of West Burdwan district. During the accident, the truck overturned on the bike and cyclist. Two people died tragically on the spot. Two more people riding the same bike were seriously injured. One of the injured died after being taken to the hospital. One is undergoing treatment. Seeing the incident, the local people blocked the road. After getting information about the incident, the local people got angry after seeing the police who reached the spot.

An incident of police clash with local people took place. Later, Kankasa ACP Suman Kumar Jaiswal, Kankasa IC Parthon Ghosh, DC East Abhishek Gupta and Raniganj, Budbud, Durgapur police station also reached the spot. Two people died on the spot after being crushed under the truck. Two injured people were recovered in critical condition and sent to Durgapur Departmental Hospital. Where another injured person died. Local people blocked the road for more than an hour regarding the incident. Due to which there was a long traffic jam from Birudiha till Panagarh market. Police have named the deceased as cyclist Uttam Das Vairagya (46), resident of Budbud police station, Bharatpur, Nand Lal Sharma (29), resident of Panagarh Bazaar, Randiha Mod and Baban Banerjee (21), resident of Kankasa 3rd Colony. One injured Ibrahim Khan (43) has been admitted to the hospital.

Police seized the truck on the road
Police said that the deceased Uttam Das was going for duty at Balaji factory on a bicycle, while three people from a private finance company, Nand Lal Sharma, Baban Banerjee and Ibrahim Khan, were going on a bike when a loaded truck going to Durgapur went out of control and fell on the bike. The cyclist was hit, after which the truck hit the bike and overturned on the said people. The cyclist and the bike driver died in the accident. The police recovered the truck present on the road and confiscated it. The bodies were recovered and sent to Durgapur Divisional Hospital for post-mortem. Local people told that a total of four people including the cyclist were hit by the truck.
