Kolkata, Vikas Kumar Gupta: BSF’s South Bengal Frontier troops in West Bengal have busted a big gold smuggling gang and arrested three women smugglers for smuggling 7 kg of gold worth Rs 4.70 crore on the Bangladesh border in Nadia district. The dealer who came to collect gold from these women also BSF The soldiers have caught him. The identities of the arrested women have been stated as Aparna Biswas, Ashima Muhuri and Mithali Pal. All three are said to be residents of Majherpada village of Gede area. BSF has been successful in catching gold dealer Soumen Vishwas who was caught along with them.

How did the arrest happen?
According to BSF sources, women soldiers of 32nd battalion of South Bengal Frontier caught three women with 20 gold biscuits, 4 gold bricks and pieces of 8 gold bricks at Gede border. Those women were about to board the train leaving from Gede for Sealdah. Before this, the BSF team was successful in catching the gold dealer who had come to collect the gold consignment from them. After smuggling this gold from Bangladesh to India, this smuggling gang was planning to supply it to the gold markets in Barabazar and Bahubazar of Kolkata. The total weight of the seized gold is 7 kg, whose estimated value is Rs 4 crore 70 lakh.

Gold smuggling was being done to women by luring them with one thousand rupees each.
During interrogation, all three women, residents of Gede, told that they work for one person. After receiving the consignment of gold in Gede, he had to hand over the consignment to Soumen Biswas at Mayurhat Halt railway station. For this work, each of the women was to get one thousand rupees. When she reached Mayurhat Halt railway station with the gold consignment, BSF caught her with the gold. All the arrested gold smugglers along with the gold consignment have been handed over to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Kolkata Zonal Unit for further legal action.
