The in-charge of each police station under Kolkata Police has been given 15 days time to give information about illegal construction in their area. According to Lalbazar sources, through the database, Kolkata Police will keep track of how many illegal houses have been built and are being built in the city. On the basis of that, the police will take legal action against the said promoter after consulting the corporation. Meanwhile, to stop illegal construction, on Thursday, DC rank officers of each division in the city held a meeting with the divisional police station in-charge, other officers and borough officers of the concerned department.

What will happen in the database

The investigating officers from the police station will see whether the construction of buildings in their areas is legal or illegal. If there is information that the house is illegal, the address of the said house, identity of its owner or promoter, whether a case has been registered in the matter or not, all such information will have to be uploaded in the prescribed app or software. Many photographs of the house under construction will also have to be uploaded from different angles. As soon as the information is uploaded, Lalbazar officials will be able to see it and after that further steps will be taken. Help of Kolkata Municipal Corporation will also be taken in this matter.

Police station in-charge will be punished for negligence

Sources say that if information about any illegal construction is received near Lalbazar, it will be investigated whether its information has been uploaded or not. If it is found that the concerned police station has not given that information, then the OC of that police station will be immediately called to Lalbazar and interrogated. If any policeman or officer of the police station is found negligent, action will be taken against him. Lalbazar officials say that if the police station hides information about illegal construction taking place in their areas, then a separate column will be created on the Kolkata Police website to seek information from people. Through this, the people of the city will be able to inform the police about illegal construction.
