WB News: Important meeting of Election Commission on 13th April

WB News: Regarding the first phase of voting in West Bengal election Commission (Election Commission) will hold a high level meeting on 13th April. In the first phase, voting will be held on the seats of Cooch Behar, Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri. Commissioner level officers of the Election Commission will be present in the meeting. Election Commission officials will hold a virtual meeting with the District Magistrates and District Election Officers of these three centers and discuss the preparations for the elections including the deployment of forces. Returning officers of these three centers have also been asked to attend the meeting.

Election Commission appointed 14 general observers and seven police observers.

Lok Sabha elections are going to start in the country from 19th April. In the first phase, voting will be held for three Lok Sabha seats in the state. Before the first phase of elections, the Commission has appointed General Observers on 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state and Police Observers on seven seats.

Appointment of General Observer for these Lok Sabha constituencies

The Election Commission has appointed IAS level officers as General Observers. Kumar Pal Gautam (IS) for Malda North, Navdeep Shukla and Avnikant Patnaik for Malda South, Manish Thakur for Jangipur, Yaru Talo for Baharampur, Kamal Kishore Son for Murshidabad, Pawar Narsingh Sambhaji for Krishnanagar, Vikas Anand for Ranaghat. , VS Choudhary Kolasani has been appointed for Burdwan East seat, Munish Sharma for Burdwan-Durgapur, Pommala Sunil Kumar for Asansol, Rajendra Bharud and Anish Yadav for Bolpur. Along with this, T Ravikant has been appointed as General Observer for Birbhum Lok Sabha seat.

Appointment of police observers on these Lok Sabha seats:

Along with the General Observer, the Commission has also appointed a Police Observer for Malda North Lok Sabha Centre. IPS officers have been appointed for a total of 12 Lok Sabha centres. Whereas Chiruvolu Srikanth for Malda North and South seats, Sandeep B Patil for Jangipur and Murshidabad, Baharampur Siddhanth Bahuguna, Nabam Gungte for Krishnanagar and Ranaghat seats, Mahipal Yadav for Burdwan East and Burdwan Durgapur, Asansol Mahendra Kumar Rathore, Bolpur and Vijay Singh has been appointed for Birbhum seat. Police observers will keep an eye on criminal activities related to elections.
