WB News: After Education Minister Bratya Basu termed the Governor as a ‘lunatic’ amid discussion over the governance dilemma in government-run universities in West Bengal. C V Anand Bose (CV Anand Bose) said on Thursday that such comments have come when he has already approved the names of interim vice-chancellors proposed by the minister. The Governor said Basu’s allegations were an attempt to spoil his relations with his constitutional colleague Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Raj Bhavan said in a post on the social media platform ‘X’, “Minister Shri Bratya Basu has described the Governor as ‘hysterical’ and suffering from Alzheimer’s.

Governor respects Chief Minister a lot

This was said at a time when the Governor has accepted all the four names suggested by the minister for appointment as interim vice-chancellors of universities. The post said, the Governor believes that the Minister is spoiling the relationship between him and the Honorable Chief Minister. The Governor respects the Chief Minister a lot. Basu had also accused the Governor of taking “illogical and disproportionate steps” regarding the functioning of state universities. Responding to this, Bose issued a statement on Wednesday night in the government’s Reaffirmed its commitment to protect the autonomy of these institutions against interference.
