WB News: Commission orders removal of Murshidabad DIG

WB News: The Election Commission has ordered the removal of the DIG of Murshidabad on Monday following the violence in West Bengal. Sources said that the Commission took this action against the officer due to the “lack of monitoring” on his part in immediately preventing further incidents. He said that two violent incidents were recorded in Murshidabad in which weapons and explosives were used. Sources said that Lok Sabha Elections While visiting West Bengal before the announcement of Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission had said that electoral violence will not be tolerated at all and accountability will be fixed at the “highest level”.

Adhir accuses Murshidabad DIG of working ‘for Trinamool’ planted Blame

Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, the outgoing Congress MP from Baharampur, had complained against Mukesh. His complaint was that the IPS officer was ‘working for Trinamool’. Earlier, the Commission had ordered the removal of Rajiv Kumar from the post of DG of State Police. Three names were sought from the state. The state sent the names of three such people. The names of Vivek Sahay, senior IPS officers Sanjay Mukherjee and Rajesh Kumar were sent to the commission. Vivek was the first among these to be appointed DG by the Commission. He was removed the next day and Sanjay was made the Director General of State Police during the elections.

Also directed to remove District Magistrates of four districts of the state

The Election Commission has also directed the administration to remove the District Magistrates of four districts of the state before the Lok Sabha elections. These districts are East Medinipur, East Burdwan, Jhargram and Birbhum. None of the District Magistrates of those four districts are IAS cadre officers. He is a WBCS officer. The Commission also ordered the removal of Home Secretaries of Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. General Secretary, Administrative Department of Himachal Pradesh, Mizoram has also been transferred.
