WB News: Campaign being run against overloading, challans being issued

Kolkata, Shiv Kumar Raut: In private goods vehicles in West Bengal overloading (Overloading) is common. Some drivers flout government rules and overload their vehicles. This not only causes damage to the roads, but there is also a risk of vehicles overturning. To crack down on overloading, the team of Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) of the state along with the police is running a campaign on national highways and border areas. Overloading is being monitored. This campaign has been intensified from 2020. To prevent overloading, fines are being imposed on vehicles. This information was given in response to a question asked by Transport Minister Snehasish Chakraborty in the Question Hour in the Assembly.
