WB News: Border Security Force (BSF) South Bengal Frontier troops have foiled gold smuggling incidents at two different places along the India-Bangladesh International Border in North 24 Parganas and seized gold worth about Rs 94.68 lakh. Two people including a Bangladeshi citizen have been arrested in this case. The names of the accused have been stated as Anisuzzaman Anees and Vijay Tarafdar. Anees is a resident of Comilla, Bangladesh, while Tarafdar is from Kulia village of North 24 Parganas. A BSF official said that on Wednesday, the soldiers of 145th battalion of BSF arrested a Bangladeshi during routine checking of passengers at the Integrated Check Post (ICP) Petrapole. Passenger Anisuzzaman Anees was caught.

During interrogation, Anees told that he had to supply gold to a person in New Market area of Kolkata. For this work he would have received about 20 thousand Bangladeshi currencies. Here, Tarafdar told that he has been smuggling to earn easy money. He took the gold from Jashim Mandal, resident of Matila village in Bangladesh and was to give it to a person living in Raghudevpur in India. He was going to get four thousand rupees for this work. Both the accused and the seized gold have been handed over to the Customs Department.
