WB News: Five people died in a bus accident in Jajpur, Odisha. Four of the dead are residents of East Medinipur district. Administration sources have given this information. It is also learned that the bus was returning from Odisha to Nandakumar depot in East Medinipur. Expressing grief over the incident, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced financial assistance to the families of the deceased as well as the injured. On his instructions, State Fire Minister Sujit Bose has left for Odisha. The district administration of Paschim Medinipur said that 44 passengers of the bus were injured in the accident. Of these, 32 are residents of Bengal.

A bus full of passengers going from Puri to Bengal met with an accident in Jajpur on Monday night. There were a total of 50 passengers in the bus. News agency PTI quoted police sources as saying that at least five people died in the accident. More than 30 people were injured. Initially it was told that the driver suddenly lost control of the steering due to which the accident occurred. Police will investigate whether the driver was sleeping or not.

The Chief Minister has expressed grief over the incident. In a message given on his X handle (formerly Twitter), he said that many of those who died and were injured in the accident were residents of Bengal. The state government is sending officers, supplies and ambulances to the affected areas. Mamata Banerjee said that buses have also been sent to bring back the stranded passengers. Beds have been reserved for the injured in Medinipur Medical College Hospital. If necessary, passengers will be admitted there and treated.

Apart from this, the Chief Minister of Bengal said that the state government will provide financial assistance to the families of the deceased and the injured. The Chief Minister also said that the state administration as well as government officials of East and West Medinipur districts have jumped into relief and rescue operations. The Chief Minister said that State Fire and Emergency Services Minister Sujit Bose has rushed to the accident site in Jajpur, Odisha to deal with the situation. He will stand at the accident site and handle the rescue work on behalf of the state government.
