WB News: 19,000 people who lost school jobs may be eligible, appointments of the rest are doubtful

wb news : West Bengal school service commission (SSC) on Thursday claimed that it had provided the Calcutta High Court a list of 5300 people appointed by the School Recruitment Committee of 2016 whose appointments were doubtful. SSC also said that the remaining 19000 teachers ‘may be eligible’. The commission said it also believes that the 19,000 teachers whose appointments have been canceled in the light of the High Court order may have had their eligibility criteria match the criteria prepared by the appointing authorities.

School Service Commission Chairman Siddharth Majumdar claimed

Speaking to reporters, State SSC Chairman Siddharth Majumdar said, ‘We presented before the court the list of candidates where discrepancies were found in recruitment. These lists were based on two specific irregularities in recruitment – one was manipulation of the ‘Optical Mark Recognition’ (OMR) sheet and the other was irregularities in ranks. The total number of such candidates for Group C and D and teachers of classes 9-10 and 11-12 was approximately 5,300.’ SSC made this claim on Monday on behalf of the Calcutta High Court in schools run and aided by the West Bengal government. This has been done in the background of cancellation of all the appointments made through the recruitment process of State Level Selection Test-2016 (SLST).
