Kolkata, Vikas Kumar Gupta: Based on secret information in West Bengal, the Special Task Force (STF) team of Bengal Police has arrested Group D staff working in Railways on charges of drug smuggling. The name of the arrested accused has been stated as Raju Mandal (39). He is a resident of Dhantala area of Nadia. 9 kg 81 grams of opium has been seized from his possession. Since the seized opium was of very high quality, its value was estimated to be around Rs 90 lakh. STF sources say that the arrested accused is a Group D staff in Indian Railways. At present his posting is in Naihati. The arrested accused was presented in the local court. There, instructions have been given to send him to STF custody for seven days.
How the vicious railway employee was caught
STF sources say that they had received news that a drugs supplier in Nadia district is secretly spreading the network of drug supply. Along with supplying drugs to various drug smugglers, he also travels on scooter and delivers drugs to people associated with the drug trade. After this information, the Bengal STF team reached Dhantala in Nadia district. After this, a Railway Group D staff named Raju Mandal was arrested red-handed with high quality opium worth Rs 90 lakh. The accused is being interrogated.

Used to order parcel of drugs from famous courier company
Bengal STF sources say that during preliminary interrogation of the arrested accused, it was revealed that he used to get parcels of high quality drugs from many states of North-East from the famous courier company of the city. After this, he used to supply the drugs found from these parcels in the entire Nadia district. When the STF team reached his hideout, he was about to load the opium-laden parcel ordered from the courier company in his scooter and leave home to supply it. At this very moment he was caught red-handed. The accused is being interrogated about the people from whom he took drugs and to whom he supplied drugs. Information about his arrest has been given to the Indian Railways and the railway office where he worked in Naihati.
