Burdwan/Panagarh, Mukesh Tiwari: The police of East Burdwan of West Bengal, following a secret information in the snatching case, conducted a raid operation and arrested Bunty and Babli, the leaders of 12 year old snatching gang. An SUV and snatched gold jewelery and cash were seized from them. Police said that during the Dol Yatra festival in Katwa district, Bunty-Babli took advantage of the crowd at Katwa Gaurang Temple and Jagdanandpur Radha Govind Temple and stole jewelery and cash from many devotees. A group of women from the gang had entered the crowd of devotees and snatched the gold chains from the elderly women.

On the complaint of the victim, the police of Katwa police station started investigation. The gang was identified by analyzing police sources and technical inputs. According to the police, the accused had left for Hooghly from Katwa late on Sunday night in a new SUV. Katwa police conducted a special operation and arrested both the members of the said gang from Polba area. At the behest of the accused, theft and snatching chains, about 200 grams of gold jewelery and Rs 89,000/- in cash were recovered from their house. A silver colored SUV was also seized. Police have started legal action against the accused. During police interrogation, the accused admitted that they had been committing such crimes for the last 12 years. He had not been caught before.
