in west bengal Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday raided eight places in Kolkata and 24 North Parganas district of West Bengal on allegations of use of fake domicile certificates to avail benefits available to residents of border areas in recruitment in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). Were killed. The CBI took over the investigation of this case in August last year on the instructions of the Calcutta High Court. There are allegations that many candidates were illegally recruited in the armed forces and CAPFs through fake domicile certificates. In these certificates, they were shown to be from border areas and hence they were passed even at lower cut-off marks.

It has been alleged in the FIR that some Pakistani citizens also benefited from this. Officials said that on Saturday searches were conducted at the premises of the gang members who were allegedly involved in making fake domicile certificates. Justice Jai Sengupta, after looking into the results of the CBI’s preliminary investigation, had said that no irregularities were found in recruitment in the armed forces but four incidents were found in the central paramilitary forces.

Justice Sengupta, citing the arguments of the Deputy Solicitor General, had said, “The residence certificate, matriculation certificate and caste certificate are forged.
