Cases had decreased in four months
ADG (Law and Order) Sanjay Singh said that as the cases of harsh firing increased, SOP was issued in July and it was strictly followed. As a result, there has been a significant reduction in the cases of harsh firing and waving of weapons in the last three-four months. Now the season of festivals and weddings is coming again. In view of the apprehension, the districts have been alerted.
Social media will also be monitored
He said that such incidents are also being monitored through social media and other mediums. For this, inputs will be collected through the social media cell located at the police headquarters. At the same time, instructions have been given to the police administration in the districts to gather intelligence at the local level also. ADG said that this trend will have to be stopped at any cost. Under crime control, action will be taken to stop these tendencies.
Provision for preventive action made for the first time
ADG Law and Order said that weapon license is given for self-defense. Waving it or firing unnecessarily is also a crime. In cases of harsh firing, till now the police used to take action after the incident, but now for the first time, a provision for preventive action has been made to stop these incidents. When an incident occurs, the police station incharge will himself verify the incidents and register an FIR and send a proposal to suspend or cancel the license. The role of the organizers will also be investigated. A provision has also been made in the SOP to identify the guilty officer and take disciplinary action if any administrative failure is found.
