Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said, exciting times are ahead for the state’s transport and tourism sectors. It is an ambitious project of Kerala connecting Kochi and its 10 surrounding islands. It has been started with a total of 78 electric boats and 38 terminals.

Country’s first water metro will be battery operated. It has been made eco friendly. However, diesel-powered generators have also been installed for backup.
The journey from Vyttila to Kakkanad can be covered in just 25 minutes via water metro. In this, 100 passengers will be able to travel sitting together. On the other hand, water metros will have the facility of ramps for the disabled.
Water Metro will have the facility of feeding chamber and mobile recharge for women. It will run at a speed of eight knots per hour. Vote service will be available 12 hours a day at an interval of 15 minutes. Due to which it will be very easy to reach your destination.
The entire journey of the Water Metro will be air-conditioned, commuters can travel on both the Kochi Metro and the Water Metro using the Kochi 1 card. Not only this, people can also book tickets digitally. For this, passengers will have to use the Kochi One app.
The water metro service with rubber wheels will be run on the road slab by taking power from the overhead traction line. In this, passengers will get facilities like traditional metro.
