CM Vijayan said in a post on Facebook that another assurance given by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government to the people of the state is nearing completion with the commencement of the major project in Kochi set up at a cost of Rs 1136.83 crore.

World class Kochi Water Metro project to start: Kerala CM Vijayan said in a tweet that exciting times are ahead for the state’s transport and tourism sectors. ‘The world class Kochi Water Metro project is about to start. It is an ambitious project of Kerala connecting Kochi and its 10 surrounding islands. With a total of 78 electric boats and 38 terminals, the cost of KWM is 1136.83 crores, funded by the Government of Kerala and KfW.

KfW is a German funded agency. In his post on Facebook, the Chief Minister said that under the first phase of the project, service from High Court-Vypin Terminal to Vyttila-Kakkanad Terminal would start soon. He said that economical and safe travel in air-conditioned boats would help people reach their destinations without getting stuck in traffic jams. The Chief Minister said that commuters can travel in both Kochi Metro and Water Metro using the Kochi 1 card. Vijayan said that people can also book tickets digitally.
