Water level of Durgavati and Suvaran rivers increased, two bridges washed away, water entered school and hospital

At the same time, the passengers catching the train from the railway station have to face a lot of inconvenience and have to cover a distance of 10 kilometers more to reach the station. At the same time, there is difficulty in taking sick patients to the health center.

People of dozens of villages lost contact with the headquarters.

It is worth noting that during the rainy season, the bridge built by the villagers with the help of labor in the Durgavati river near Kudra-Rampur often sinks. Due to this, people of dozens of villages in the southern region lose contact with the market and railways as well as the headquarters. Due to lack of permanent bridge, the villagers of the area have been suffering a lot. The distance of river and Rampur from the market is only two hundred meters. Due to sinking of the bridge, people here have to travel a distance of 10 kilometers to reach the headquarters.

Bridge construction work buried in files

In fact, the villagers of the area have been demanding a bridge across the Durgavati river near Rampur-Kudra from the administration and government for years. The efforts made by the villagers here including protest for the bridge, gheraoing of officials, protest in the Chief Minister’s meeting, all failed. Site inspection was also conducted by officials, MPs and many ministers. But, the work of bridge construction got buried in the files. The militant villagers here met and took a pledge to build the bridge through labor donation and by donating amongst themselves, they built the bridge through labor donation, which has become an accessible route for the villagers of the south throughout the years. Only during the rainy season, when the water level of the river rises, the bridge sinks. Due to this, dozens of villages lose contact with the block headquarters.

Patients of Bhagwanpur PHC are being shifted to other places.

Here, according to the information received from Bhabhua Sadar of Kaimur district, due to intermittent heavy and moderate rains for the last three days, Suvaran river including its tributaries got flooded. Due to the suddenly rising river water, Kasturba Vidyalaya and Primary Health Center etc. in Bhagwanpur were submerged in the river water. Due to this, the girls studying in Kasturba School were rescued from there by the police and villagers. On Tuesday morning, a team of top officials including DM Sawan Kumar and SP Lalit Mohan Sharma reached Bhagwanpur on the news of sudden flood in Suvaran river and submergence of people’s houses along with school and hospital. The rescue operation was conducted here under the supervision of officials.

Due to the water reaching the school and the strong current, the DAV school had to be closed despite the exams and children were rescued from the DAV school. Local people Chandan Singh, Anwar Idrishi, Rajkumar Gupta etc. told that on Monday night there was heavy rain along with strong wind, due to which the water in the river suddenly increased. The water level of the river has increased so much that adjacent houses and schools have been filled with water. At present there is a danger due to rising water level of the river.

The water level of Suvaran river is just three feet below the one-storey roof of the hospital.

On the other hand, in the Bhagwanpur Primary Health Center of Bhagwanpur police station area, the water level of Suvaran river increased so much that water was only three feet below the one-storey roof, in which all the patients were taken out of the water by the local people by making boats with beds and home remedies. Whereas, Bhagwanpur Kasturba Residential School also faced a lot of problems due to water logging. The girl students there were also taken out through boats. Padhauti Panchayat Government building also got submerged due to rise in the water level of Suvaran river. Due to this, all the offices running in the building were closed. Whereas, due to the flood, at present the patients and staff of Bhagwanpur PHC and the students of Kasturba Vidyalaya are being shifted to other places by the district administration as a precautionary measure.
