New Delhi : Swedish luxury vehicle maker Volvo Auto has released the teaser of the EM90 luxury MPV, which will be the automaker’s third all-electric offering. It will be based on Born Electric platform. The Volvo EM90 will join the EX90 and EX30 based on the same platform and is scheduled to make its global debut on November 12, 2023. The EM 90 will be made mainly keeping in mind the Chinese market, but the possibility is also being expressed that it will be sold in other countries as well.
What will the EM 90 electric luxury MPV be like?
The Volvo EM 90 electric luxury MPV is expected to share many details with the Zekr 009 MPV from parent company Geely. The teaser images reveal that one can expect a tailgate with dual sunroofs, raked front windscreen and T-shaped LED taillights. Sliding doors are also visible in the image, which is likely to be attached with a large cabin. There is also a glimpse of free seats in the middle line of the teaser.
Design of the EM 90 Electric Luxury MPV
Volvo says that the EM 90 has been designed as a family car, like a mobile Scandinavian living room. It is expected to get a 536 Bhp motor setup and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 4.5 seconds. It is equipped with a 140 kWh battery pack, which can give a range of 817 km on a single charge. The weight of 009 is about 3 tonnes, which can also happen with EM 90.
Powertrain and Battery
The Volvo EM90 will be in line with the Scandinavian brand in terms of design, but the co-developed powertrain and battery should also give the automaker economies of scale. The EM90 will be Volvo’s first MPV and the first non-SUV model from the automaker since the S60 sedan went on sale in 2019. There is a possibility that EM 90 may come later in the Indian market.
