Regulator Bureau of Civil Aviation Safety (BCAS) has taken action over the incident of passengers eating food near the runway at Mumbai airport. Indigo A fine of Rs 1.20 crore has been imposed. Whereas regulator BCAS has imposed a fine of Rs 60 lakh on Mumbai airport operator Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL).
DGCA took action when the reply to the show cause notice was not found satisfactory.
DGCA informed, the reply to the show cause notice was received on 17.01.2024 and it was not found satisfactory as the response submitted by MIAL shows that they have failed to comply with the safety requirements prescribed in Air Safety Circular 04 of 2007 .

Video of passengers eating food on the runway went viral
It is noteworthy that on January 14, a video went viral on social media. Actually, the Indigo flight from Goa to Delhi was diverted to Mumbai after it was delayed. Due to which the passengers had to face problems. After which the passengers started eating food on the runway itself. Whose video went viral rapidly on social media. After the video went viral, DGCA came into action and action was taken against Indigo.
In a viral video, passengers of a Delhi-bound IndiGo flight diverted to Mumbai (confirmed by airport sources) due to operational issues are seen eating and sitting on the airport tarmac at Mumbai Airport.
