Vijay Hansda turns down demand for CBI probe in illegal mining case, petition filed in Jharkhand High Court

Vijay Hansda had demanded a CBI inquiry in the Jharkhand High Court into the illegal mining case at Nimmun Pahar in Jirwabari police station area of Sahibganj. This petition was to be heard on Wednesday. Meanwhile, he made an application in the High Court and requested to withdraw the petition filed regarding the demand for CBI inquiry. However, the court has not yet taken any decision on Vijay’s application. Here, Vijay is not even appearing in the PMLA court to testify in the ongoing case against Pankaj Mishra and others in connection with illegal mining in Hansda Sahibganj.

In the petition filed earlier by Vijay Hansda, it was said that Pankaj Mishra and others had complained about illegal mining on Nimbu Pahar to the police, but the police did not take action against them. Instead of registering an FIR on his complaint, the police lodged an FIR against him and put him in jail. Expressing disbelief on the police in the petition, a CBI inquiry was demanded.

Hansda had also recorded his statement in the CSIR registered by ED on the basis of Barharwa incident. ED had made him a witness in this case of illegal mining. Trial is going on in this case after ED filed charge sheet against Pankaj Mishra and others. Vijay Hansda was summoned for testimony by the PMLA court, but he did not go to testify. On the basis of Vijay Hansda’s complaint, after the uproar in the Lemon Pahad case, the police had registered an FIR against Pankaj Mishra and others in the illegal mining case.

On the basis of this FIR, the ED started investigation by registering a fresh CIR against Pankaj and others on charges of illegal mining. During this, Idi did a survey of Lemon Mountain. Illegal mining was confirmed in this. Attempts to withdraw the petition filed by Vijay Hansda demanding a CBI inquiry are feared to affect the second CIR filed in the case of illegal mining. Vijay Hansda is basically the head of Nimbu Pahar village. Initially, he strongly opposed illegal mining in the area.
