People taking loans from micro finance companies in Chhatarpur block of Palamu district are living in fear. Firstly, the employees of these companies give loans to innocent villagers (mostly women) by giving them various kinds of inducements. When the loan installment is not deposited on time, the company employees harass people. Employees of companies take away women who do not pay the installments from their homes. They abuse and behave rudely with them. They even snatch their jewellery. Last week, in Tenudih village of the block, the employees forcibly took a woman who could not pay the installments to the bank and harassed her there. Let us tell you that about 10 micro finance companies in the area give loans to rural women. For loan disbursement, the company personnel take the help of a woman from the village. By giving her some money, a group of village women is formed and a loan is given to them. A woman has a loan of about Rs 1 lakh 40 thousand. Company personnel fix a period of one week, 15 days or one month for recovery of the installment. Most of the women taking loans work as labourers. Since the male members of their family live in other states or cities to earn, they have to face many problems. When women are unable to pay the installments on time due to not receiving the wages on time, they have to endure many kinds of tortures.
