The whole country was immersed in New Year celebrations. In many states including Maharashtra, Goa, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, people performed puja and celebrated picnic on the first day of the New Year. Thousands of people gathered at Gateway of India and Marine Drive in Mumbai. There was a queue of people in Siddhivinayak Temple and Mumba Devi Temple since morning. Crowds of people gathered for prayer meetings in churches. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde started the New Year by participating in the blood donation camp organized in Thane. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde wished people a happy new year. People gathered in large numbers for prayers in the churches of Goa. A large number of people also reached the beaches of Mumbai and Goa to celebrate the New Year. On New Year’s Eve, people enjoyed the last sunset of 2023. Extensive security arrangements were made by the police on the 105 kilometer long beach. Kolkata’s pubs, restaurants and bars remained full on New Year’s Eve. Crowds of people gathered on Park Street, where New Year was celebrated. People from all over the country enjoyed the New Year celebration. People reached various tourist destinations in Jharkhand and celebrated the first day of the New Year and had a picnic.
