VIDEO: Highest rainfall till date in Tamil Nadu, flood like situation, 10 dead

It is raining heavily in Tamil Nadu. It is being said that the amount of rain that has occurred in the last two days has never been seen in the history of the state. Due to which 10 people have died and normal life has been affected. Efforts are also being made to rescue those who are stranded as passengers. Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Shivadas Meena said that the southern districts of the state received maximum rainfall in the last two days. The Chief Secretary also said that the India Meteorological Department’s forecast of heavy rain was also ‘wrong’ as extremely heavy rains occurred in the affected districts within two days. He said, 10 people have died in Tirunelveli and Tuticorin districts due to rain. Some lost their lives due to wall collapse, while some died due to electric shock. Also, Chief Secretary Meena said that there has been record rainfall and floods in the southern districts, especially Tirunelveli and Tuticorin. Within 30 hours, Kayalpattinam received 1,186 mm rainfall, while Tiruchendur received 921 mm rainfall, he said. The secretary said that around 1,343 personnel from central and state government agencies including Navy, Air Force, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), state disaster response forces are involved in the rescue and relief operations.
