With the aim of making this new year happy and prosperous, devotees reached here on January 1 for worship. In view of the crowd of devotees arriving at the temple, apart from 12 magistrates, more than 100 police forces have been deployed in the temple premises. It is said that the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled just by seeing Maa Thawewali Maa.

The story of Thawe Wali Mata is related to the stubborn king Manan Singh of Cherovansh. According to legends, there used to be a stubborn king Manan Singh and a great devotee of Mata Rahshu Bhagat. Raja Manan Singh asked Rahshu Bhagat to call his mother. On the call of devotee Rahshu, Kauri Kamakhya Devi had reached Thawe via Kamrup, Patna, Aami, Ghoraghat and after cutting the head of devotee Rahshu, she gave darshan to King Manan Singh. Since then Maa Thawewali is sitting here.

Whatever devotee comes to the court of Maa Thavewali with a true heart, Maa fulfills his wishes. This is the reason why devotees from all over the country come here on New Year to offer prayers and pray for happiness and prosperity.
