The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has asked for four weeks more time to survey the Gyanvapi complex of Varanasi and submit its report. In this matter, on Wednesday, on behalf of ASI, the Standing Counsel of the Government of India, Amit Kumar Srivastava, has filed an application in the court of District Judge Dr. Ajay Krishna Vishwesh.

He says that after October 6, four more weeks should be given for the survey in Gyanvapi. A copy of this application has also been provided to the defendant in this case, Anjuman Intejamia Masjid Committee. After objection from the Masjid Committee, it will give its order in this matter in the court on Thursday.

ASI has already extended the deadline twice

It is noteworthy that the team of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has been surveying the Gyanvapi complex for 61 days. The District Judge’s court had ordered to complete the survey and submit the report by October 6, but the ASI has requested to extend the deadline.
