It is being told that the domestic e-commerce company Flipkart (Flipkart Jobs) said on Monday that it has set a target of providing more than one lakh seasonal (temporary) employment before the festive season. The company said that these recruitments will be done in its supply chain to meet the demand. Flipkart said in the statement that both direct and indirect employment will include local grocery supply partners and women. Persons with Disabilities (PWD) will also be employed in these. The company expects to create more than one lakh new employment opportunities in its supply chain before the festive season.

Commerce Ministry’s suggestion to banks, e-commerce exporters get export loans in foreign currency

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the commerce ministry, on Monday said it has suggested banking and financial institutions to extend export credit in foreign currency to e-commerce exporters. The ministry, however, said that this should be done on the basis of the guidelines of the Reserve Bank. E-commerce exporters or banks may bring to the notice of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade any issues regarding such loans. Significantly, the objective of the new Foreign Trade Policy 2023 is also to promote exports through e-commerce.

DGFT also commented

In a trade note, DGFT said outstanding issues related to exports through e-commerce were discussed with industry representatives, exporters and nodal departments. The note added that one issue was non-availability of export credit before and after shipment for e-commerce exports and discussions have been held with RBI in this regard. The note further stated that a comprehensive framework has been laid down in the Master Circular ‘Rupee/Foreign Currency Export Credit and Customer Service for Exporters’ and all eligible persons are allowed access to export credit before and after shipment. This also includes e-commerce exporters.

Six percent decline in office recruitment in August due to cautious approach in IT, auto sectors

There has been a six percent decline in office recruitment in August due to a cautious attitude in the information technology (IT), insurance, auto, health-care and business process outsourcing (BPO) sectors in the country. This was said in a report on Monday. 2,666 jobs were created in August this year, whereas in the same period a year ago this figure was 2,828. According to the Naukri Jobspeak Index, jobs increased by four percent in August 2023 on a monthly basis. In July 2023, there were 2,573 jobs. Naukri Jobspeak is a monthly index that reflects the state of the Indian employment market. It provides information about jobs placed by employers on ‘Naukri.com’ and recruitment activities based on job related searches.
