Uttarkashi : Hours after sending khichdi through a six-inch pipeline to 41 workers trapped in the tunnel of Silkyara in Uttarkashi for the last nine days, rescue workers sent a camera to them in the early hours of Tuesday and released the first video of their recovery. On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami again on Tuesday and took information about the rescue and relief operations being carried out to rescue the workers trapped in the under-construction tunnel.
Work on making escape passage using American machine started
Meanwhile, there is also news that the work of making ‘escape passage’ by inserting large diameter mild steel pipes through American auger machine started again after three days. Official sources said that after the endoscopic flexi camera arrived from Delhi late on Monday evening, it was sent inside the tunnel. He said that in the video released, workers wearing yellow and white helmets are seen receiving food sent through the pipeline and talking to each other. This is a big relief for the families of these workers.
Khichdi was sent into the tunnel on Monday night
Meanwhile, Khichdi was sent to the workers on Monday night through a 53 meter long six inch diameter pipeline laid through the debris. Khichdi was packed in wide mouth plastic bottles and delivered to the workers. Colonel Deepak Patil, in-charge of the rescue operation being conducted in the tunnel, said that porridge, khichdi, cut apples and bananas can be sent through this pipeline.
Walkie-talkie and two chargers were also sent into the tunnel.
Security personnel Nipu Kumar, who was involved in the rescue operation, said that a walkie-talkie and two chargers have also been sent to the pipeline to establish communication. Earlier, food, water, medicines and oxygen were being sent to the workers through a four-inch pipeline. As part of various efforts being made to evacuate the workers, the Indian Air Force has transported machines weighing 36 tonnes from one C-17 and two C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft.
CM Dhami gave information to PM Modi
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on social media that he informed the Prime Minister about the successful laying of a six-inch diameter pipeline across the debris and through it, food and other essential items were being delivered to the workers. Dhami said that he also informed the Prime Minister about the conversation with the labor brothers with the help of endoscopic flexi camera and their efficiency. He said that the Prime Minister has also said that it is our top priority to evacuate all the labor brothers safely.
PM Modi talked to Dhami for the fourth time
Let us tell you that on November 12, the day of Diwali, the Prime Minister has spoken to the Chief Minister for the fourth time after the collapse of a part of the tunnel being built on the Yamunotri National Highway and workers got trapped in it. Meanwhile, sources said that drilling has been started again with American auger machine to make ‘escape passage’ from Silkyara tunnel. On Friday afternoon, the work was stopped after a loud noise was heard after hitting a hard surface during drilling. The machine was also damaged in this.
Delhi engineers are busy at work
The team of engineers from Delhi replaced the spare parts of this machine. After this the work started. Before the work stopped, this machine had drilled into the debris and laid 22 meters of pipe. Sources said that to stop the vibrations caused by the machine, now 800 mm diameter pipes are being used instead of 900 mm diameter. Doctor Prem Pokhriyal, who asked the workers about their health, advised the rescue workers to send them moong dal khichdi, which includes soya beans and peas, as their meal on Tuesday. Apart from this, he has also advised to send banana.
