5 workers from Bihar were also trapped in the Uttarkashi tunnel accident. Deepak, who came out of the tunnel on Tuesday, is healthy, yet he was taken to the hospital in an ambulance for his health checkup. While talking to BollywoodWallah, Deepak said that our shift had ended at 4.30 am on 12th November. When we started coming out, we realized that we were trapped. After that we did not understand what to do. A call came from outside saying don’t panic, everything is being sorted out, you people will be evacuated.
Deepak told, how these troubled days were spent..
Deepak said that on the first day we believed that arrangements for evacuation were being made, but from the second day onwards we had no idea what would happen. Meanwhile, arrangements were made to supply food and water to us. After three-four days, our confidence started weakening and we started feeling every moment that death was standing in front of us. Don’t know whether life will be saved or not. Even though we were scared, we reassured each other that everything would be fine. When our mobile started running out of charge, we ordered a charger from outside. Even when we received calls from home, we did not talk much. Used to tell them that everything was fine, we would come home soon. Uncle Nirbhay Singh had reached here on the second day of the incident. We talked to him more. Sometimes I felt that I might not be able to meet my parents again. When I come out, I feel like I have got a new life. God has heard the prayers of everyone’s families.
Diwali and Chhath did not happen
Diwali and Chhath were not celebrated in the families whose sons were trapped in the tunnel. Deepak told that even food and drink were not being prepared in his house. Talked to father on the day of Chhath. Everyone was disappointed and I felt like crying here. Now when we go home, we will celebrate Diwali with everyone.
