Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue: On the morning of 12th Diwali, 41 laborers had come to work in a tunnel in North Kashi. In the morning, when people were preparing to celebrate the festival of lights, the lives of these 41 laborers were engulfed in darkness. All the workers who had entered this tunnel to work got trapped inside due to the collapse of the tunnel. Today i.e. on 28th, all of them are expected to come out of that tunnel safely. For your information, let us tell you that the rescue operation in Silkyara tunnel of Uttarakhand which had partially collapsed, has reached its final stage today. . During this time, efforts are going on in full swing to safely rescue a total of 41 laborers trapped inside. It is expected that all these laborers will be taken out of the tunnel by night. If media reports are to be believed, it may take about 5 minutes to pull a worker out of the tunnel.

Initial efforts included drilling into a 60 meter section of debris from the collapsed tunnel, using technology such as horizontal drilling with an auger machine. However, the process faced difficulties on Thursday, due to which it had to be stopped. After this, the rescue team started vertical drilling from the top of the tunnel. Simultaneously, officials started using manual drilling using rat-hole mining technology to clear the last 10 meters of debris. The workers trapped in the tunnel have been waiting for rescue for the last 16 days.

These steps will be taken after withdrawal

In the final phase of the rescue, each worker will be placed on a wheeled stretcher and carefully pulled out by the rescue team using ropes. Considering the prevailing procedure, this process is estimated to take about two to three hours. A temporary medical facility has been set up inside the tunnel for health assessment of the rescued workers. After their evacuation, the health department has prepared eight beds for immediate care, and a team of doctors and specialists are also ready in case of any complications. Ambulances are deployed at the entry gate of the tunnel, ready to take the rescued workers out of the steel chute and take them to the nearby community health centre.

Preparation for transportation by air

For your information, let us tell you that a dedicated ward with 41 oxygen supported beds had already been arranged at Chinyalisaur Community Health Centre, about 30 km from Silkyara, which specifically caters to the needs of the rescued labourers. Medical personnel are on standby, ready to provide assistance, and arrangements have also been made to airlift workers to more advanced hospitals if necessary.
