Uttarkashi: NDRF team entered Silkyara tunnel, 41 bedded hospital ready, 30 ambulances on alert.

Uttarkashi Continuous efforts are being made to rescue the workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel. Drilling is being done with an American auger machine and another six meter section of vertical pipe has been laid. To rescue the workers trapped in the tunnel, 45 meters of pipe has been laid out of the estimated 57 meters of debris. Workers have been trapped in front of this 57 meter debris for more than 10 days.

41 bedded hospital ready for laborers

After coming out of the 41 laborers trapped in the tunnel, a 41-bed hospital has been prepared at the Community Health Center in Chinyalisaur for their care. Officials said that a team of 15 doctors has been deployed on the spot. Apart from this, an eight-bed hospital has also been prepared in the control room to provide immediate medical care to the workers.

A part of the Silkyara tunnel under construction on the Chardham Yatra route in Uttarkashi district had collapsed on November 12, due to which workers were trapped on the other side of the debris, rescue operations are being carried out on a war footing to rescue them. On Monday, rescue workers were successful in inserting a 53 meter long six-inch pipeline through the debris, through which more food items are being delivered to the workers. The first pictures and video of the workers being safe were received early on Tuesday by sending an ‘endoscopic flexi’ camera through this pipeline. Conversations were also held with the workers through walkie-talkie. A wire, a microphone and a speaker have been sent to the other side of the debris and they are able to communicate well through headphones on this side. CCTV video of the workers trapped in the tunnel also appeared, in which everyone is seen safe.
