Uttarakhand: Rescue may take a month, workers get mobile and board games, know update

Landline facility for stranded workers

A landline facility has been established to keep the workers trapped in the Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarkashi connected with their family members. Officials said that BSNL has established this facility. Officials said that a phone will be given to the workers trapped inside the partially collapsed tunnel for the last 13 days. BSNL Deputy General Manager Rakesh Chaudhary told news agency PTI that we have set up a telephone exchange. We will give them a phone connected to the line through the pipe used to send food. This phone will have incoming and outgoing facilities. They can talk to their families.

PM Modi and CM Dhami are continuously taking updates

Here, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking updates every day about the rescue operation launched in the state to safely rescue 41 workers trapped inside an under-construction tunnel. This information has been given quoting Dhami in a statement issued by Garhwal Hitaishini Sabha. Dhami said in a video message at an event organized here that PM Modi assured that the central and state governments are working jointly to safely rescue all the trapped workers from the tunnel. Dhami said that Prime Minister Modi is taking daily information about the rescue operation.

It is noteworthy that a part of the tunnel being built on the Chardham Yatra route had collapsed on November 12, due to which 41 workers working in it were trapped. Since then, various agencies are carrying out rescue operations on a war footing to get them out. At the same time, other options are being considered after the work was disrupted due to the blade of the auger machine used for drilling in the tunnel under construction in Silkyara getting stuck in the debris. Meanwhile, today i.e. on Saturday, international experts expressed hope that 41 laborers trapped for the last 13 days will come out by the coming Christmas.
