Utility News: Special winter discount in AC buses of UP Roadways, 10% less fare from December 16.

Lucknow : To provide bus passengers the benefit of traveling in air-conditioned buses in winter, the Yogi government has decided to give 10 percent discount in fares. Passengers will be able to avail this discount in air-conditioned buses from December 16. Fare relaxation has been provided in the form of special winter discount till February 28, 2024. Dayashankar Singh, Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) of Uttar Pradesh, said that passengers will also have the facility to travel in air-conditioned buses run by the Transport Corporation by paying 10 percent less fare during the winter season. He said that in view of less traffic of passengers in air-conditioned services with the onset of winter season, the fares of air-conditioned buses are being reduced. The Transport Minister said that the fare for air-conditioned 3×2 buses will now be Rs 1.47 per km per seat. Similarly, the fare for air-conditioned 2×2 buses will be Rs 1.74, the fare for air-conditioned sleeper buses will be Rs 2.33 and the fare for Valbo (high end) will be Rs 2.58 per km per seat. He said that this decision has been taken after due consideration with the aim of making air-conditioned services profitable. Fuel consumption reduces in winter season and load factor also reduces due to higher fares.

Disabled people will get travel facility in Rajdhani buses

The Transport Minister said that it has come to notice that travel facility to the disabled people is not allowed in the newly operated Rajdhani service. He instructed the officials of the Transport Corporation to ensure that travel facility is available in Rajdhani service buses also. He said that the fares of Rajdhani service buses have now been made at par with normal buses. Therefore, like ordinary buses, transportation facilities for disabled people should be provided in Rajdhani service buses also.
