UPSSF will be deployed for the security of Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, Sonbhadra, Shravasti airports of UP, commando squad ready.

Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UPSSF), a special dedicated force formed by the UP government on the lines of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), will ensure security of seven newly constructed airports in Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, Sonbhadra, Shravasti, Aligarh, Moradabad and Azamgarh. A senior Home Department official said that Home Department Principal Secretary Sanjay Prasad has issued an order on October 20 regarding the deployment of UPSSF at these airports. In the order, instructions have been given to the UP Director General of Police. The DGP has got the responsibility of defining the roles of UPSSF and local police. Their (UPSSF) related responsibilities in security before the deployment of the force. The UPSSF was made operational with the deployment of its 30 personnel at Lok Bhawan, Lucknow from September 1, 2022. The force will specifically patrol VIP establishments, various courts of UP, airports, banks as well as metro stations. The state government has announced the formation of this force in the wake of the sensational killing of a double murder accused in a courtroom in Bijnor district before the Chief Judicial Magistrate on December 31, 2019. 200 soldiers taken on deputation from PAC

PSSF officials said the first batch of 200 UPSSF personnel were taken on deputation from the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). The civilian police have completed their nine-month special training at the Sitapur Police Training College in August last year. The nine-month training includes six months of regular training of commandos and three months of special training to protect VVIP establishments, courts, airports, banks and metros to analyze the risk factors at these locations.

5,124 posts of various ranks approved for UPSSF

Another senior police officer said that the state government had approved 5,124 posts of various ranks for UPSSF in April 2022. 87 posts have been sanctioned for UPSSF headquarters in Lucknow and 5,037 posts have been sanctioned for five companies to be set up in Lucknow, Prayagraj, Mathura, Gorakhpur and Saharanpur. At the headquarters level, the posts of one Additional Director General, one Inspector General, one Deputy Inspector General, one Commandant, one Reserve Inspector, as well as six ministerial inspectors, 18 sub-inspectors, 12 head constables, and 40 constables have been created. The officer further said that the posts of 25 assistant commandants as well as five commandants and five deputy commandants were sanctioned for five companies of UPSSF. The posts of 163 company commanders, 219 platoon commanders of sub-inspector rank, 853 armour/head constables, 3,219 constables, 340 drivers, 18 sub-inspectors (ministerial), 50 assistant sub-inspectors were also sanctioned. Apart from this, five medical officers and 10 pharmacists, five radio inspectors and 100 other posts for radio communication were sanctioned.
