UPPSC: Now 75 percent marks of screening exam will be included in direct recruitment, will get rid of bias and arbitrariness.

There have been allegations of favoritism and arbitrariness in the direct recruitments conducted by Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) for a long time. The Commission used to conduct screening examination, but the selection was done only on the basis of interview. In such a situation, proper evaluation of the qualifications of the candidates could not be done. The screening exam was only for shortlisting the candidates, but now it will not happen. Now marks of screening test will also be included in direct recruitment. The Commission has implemented this system with immediate effect. This decision of the Commission is being considered historic regarding transparency in recruitments, it also includes direct recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor in government colleges.

The evaluation of the candidates will be done in two phases and after this the final selection result will be released. In this also the role of screening examination will be more important. The Commission has decided that in the selection process of direct recruitment, 75 percent marks will be for screening examination and 25 percent marks will be for interview. After this decision, 90 percent of direct recruitments of Group ‘B’ will be selected on the basis of screening examination and interview. Selection for some posts with specific qualifications in Group ‘B’ and posts in Group ‘A’ will be made only on the basis of interview.

Will be applicable in Assistant Professor recruitment exam also

The special thing is that in direct recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor in government colleges, the marks of screening test and interview will also be added. Till now, recruitment to this post was done only on the basis of interview, whereas in non-government aided colleges, the final selection is done on the basis of marks obtained in written examination and interview. Questions have also been raised that when the posts and courses are the same, then why is there a difference in the selection process, but after this decision of the Commission, the selection process of both the recruitments will become almost the same. The competitive students have welcomed this initiative of Commission Chairman Sanjay Shrinet. Students were also demanding for a long time that the marks of screening test should also be added in direct recruitment.

There will now be two members and two experts in the interview board.

Till now, one member and one expert used to participate in the interview of direct recruitment process by Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission. In such a situation, questions were raised regarding transparency. The Commission has decided that two members and two experts will participate in the direct recruitment interview. No member will know in advance who will be the second member of the interview board. This will become clear shortly before the start of the interview.
