According to meteorologists, there has been snowfall in the mountains for the last one week. In such a situation, its effect is visible on the plains also. It is too cold to go out in the morning and at night. Even on Wednesday morning, in places like Meerut, Varanasi, Lucknow, Gorakhpur etc., people lit bonfires and sat down to protect themselves from the cold. The mercury is falling due to the activity of western disturbance. The icy winds coming from the mountains have also increased the cold. At this time westerly wind is blowing. But, it has more moisture. With the decrease in temperature in the coming days, the cold may increase further. With this, dense fog will increase.

Fog will become denser in western UP

According to Zonal Meteorological Centre, Lucknow, there is a possibility of change in the weather in Uttar Pradesh from December 21. Now the effect of dense fog will be seen in the weather. There will be dense fog from east to west and icy winds will blow, due to which the maximum and minimum temperatures may drop by two to three degrees Celsius. Along with this, sunlight will remain weak during the day, due to which the effect of winter will be more visible. Fog will be dense in western UP.

Western Disturbance likely to affect Western Himalayan region

According to Zonal Meteorological Centre, Lucknow, there will be light to moderate fog at one or two places in the state on December 21. During this period, there is a possibility of dense fog at one or two places in western UP. The effect of fog will be seen in the entire state on 22 and 23 December. A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from December 22. On 24th and 25th December the weather will be generally dry and the effect of cold will be visible.

Effect of icy winds in Lucknow

Mohammad Danish, senior scientist of the Zonal Meteorological Center, said that in the last 24 hours, the effect of icy winds was seen in the capital Lucknow. Similar was the situation in other districts of the state. Cold is showing its effects even during the day. The weather conditions remain mild between sunshine and shade. Bareilly district has remained the coldest place in Uttar Pradesh for the last four consecutive days. The minimum temperature here is between 3 degree Celsius to 5 degree Celsius, which is the lowest. Apart from this, 6 degree Celsius has been recorded in Shahjahanpur, 7 degree Celsius in Muzaffarnagar, 9 degree Celsius in Aligarh and Lucknow city.

Temperature conditions in major cities of the state

According to the Zonal Meteorological Centre, the maximum temperature of the capital Lucknow on Wednesday is likely to be 23 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature is likely to be 9 degrees Celsius. In Fatehpur, Banda, Sultanpur, Faizabad, Fursatganj, Ghazipur, Fatehgarh, Basti, Jhansi, Orai and Hamirpur, the minimum temperature is expected to be between 8 degrees Celsius to 9 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is expected to be between 18 degrees Celsius to 19 degrees Celsius. Whereas in Barabanki, Hardoi, Kanpur city, Kanpur Dehat, Lakhimpur Kheri, Gorakhpur and Varanasi, the minimum temperature in Ballia Churk, Bahraich and Prayagraj will remain between 5 degrees Celsius to 6 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature in these districts will be between 19 degrees Celsius. Increase in pollution due to increase in AQI

In districts like Azamgarh, Noida, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Saharanpur, Barabanki, Kannauj and Hardoi in the state, the maximum temperature is expected to be between 20 to 21 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature can be between 6 to 7 degrees Celsius. Along with this, the minimum temperature in Etawah including Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Najibabad, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Agra, Aligarh and Bulandshahr can be 5 to 4 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature can be 19 to 20 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, pollution has increased everywhere in the state due to increase in AQI.
