UP Weather Update: The severe cold continues in North India. With the outbreak of cold, widespread effect of fog is being seen in Uttar Pradesh (Uttar Pradesh Weather). With the advancing days of the New Year, there are chances of sunshine but the morning will remain wrapped in fog. In some districts of the state the temperature can go up to 4 degrees Celsius. The Weather Department has issued an alert today regarding the Cold Day situation. Melting is expected to increase on Monday. According to meteorologists Atul Kumar Singh and Mohammed Danish, melting will continue for the time being due to Western Disturbance. On Sunday, the last day of the year, there was dense fog in many areas. It was sunny in the morning in Lucknow but the melting increased in the evening. The effect of fog was somewhat less on Sunday. Visibility was less than 50 meters in Kanpur and less than 40 meters in Jhansi. Visibility in many other areas remained between 100 to 200 meters. The lowest minimum temperature was 6.5 in Najibabad. The lowest temperature of the day was 12.8 degrees Celsius recorded in Muzaffarnagar.
Cold day happens due to these reasons
Cold day occurs when the minimum temperature is 10 degrees below normal and the maximum temperature is 4.5 degrees below normal. When the daytime temperature is 6.4 degrees or less then it is a cold day. If the maximum temperature falls below 5.5 degrees Celsius below normal, the Meteorological Department records it as a severe cold day.

There is a possibility of dense fog in Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal and surrounding areas.
There is yellow alert of medium level fog in these districts
Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharth Nagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, Lucknow, Barabanki, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, There are chances of fog in Ambedkar Nagar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Kasganj, Badaun and surrounding areas.
