UP 112 Additional Director General (ADG) Neera Rawat said on Tuesday, “The protesting employees are connected to UP 112 (UP Police Emergency Integrated Response Centre) in three days from November 11 to 13 during the festivals. Immediate assistance was provided to 63,230 people and families by Police Response Vehicles (PRVs). Sharing information with media persons, he said that earlier 673 call takers were present and now 825 call takers will be hired by the new agency managing outsourced call takers for the response centre. He said that as the number of call takers increases, the call taking capacity of UP112 will be further increased.

The ADG said that during Diwali, calls related to burning cases, firecracker bursting incidents and fire incidents are frequent and UP112 has provided assistance in every corner of the state. He said that the call taking and call spreading technology has been further upgraded, after which the call taking capacity can be increased from 50,000 to 1.30 lakh, which has reduced call dropping and more calls can be attended at a time. He said that the agency made the offer with an enhanced pay grade of ₹ 12,667 over the basic salary of a skilled worker, whereas earlier they were given the pay grade of a semi-skilled worker. He said that out of 673 call takers already employed, 158 rejoined the job, while the agency arranged for new call takers for the remaining vacant posts. The ADG stressed that “the agency has assured that they will still contact the protesting call takers and explain to them about the new increased pay grade of skilled employee, and they can still attend duties . The protesting employees are demanding a basic salary of ₹18,000.
