UP News: Will run from December 15 to reduce road accidents "road safety fortnight" Campaign, instructions of Yogi government

Yogi government has given strict guidelines to the transport department to reduce road accidents in the state. The Transport Department has prepared an action plan to reduce road accidents by 50 percent. Under this, Road Safety Fortnight will be celebrated in all the districts from 15th to 31st December with inter-departmental coordination. Major accidents occur on the roads of UP due to overspeeding, wrong side driving, use of mobile phones and drunk driving, due to which some people lose their entire families. This is a man made disaster, hence there is a need to create awareness to reduce it. This is a sensitive and important issue. Under the Road Safety Fortnight, the fitness of all the school vehicles and medical fitness of the drivers will be checked in the state. Students will be given information about road safety and traffic rules in prayer meetings in all educational institutions. Also, road safety oath will be administered. Effective patrolling will be done in view of fog. Health cards will be issued compulsorily for commercial drivers. Overloading will be stopped at the source point by the task force. Apart from this, strict compliance of the orders issued from time to time will be ensured by the Transport Department to reduce road accidents. In this way many people’s lives can be saved.

Action should be taken after analyzing road accidents

Instructions have been given that meetings of all divisional and district level road safety committees should be held compulsorily. All Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates should fix days for this. Public representatives regarding road accidents should also be invited in the meeting and their suggestions should also be taken. Apart from this, subject experts and representatives of voluntary organizations can also be invited to the meeting. Road accidents should be analyzed and action should be taken in the committee meeting. The results of the action should be visible on the ground also. If any driver is issued a challan more than three times in a row, his license should be cancelled. Despite this, if there is any violation, the registration of his vehicle should be cancelled. Apart from this, the critical care facilities available in the district should also be inspected from time to time, so that the people affected by road accidents can get treatment in the district itself.
