UP News: When the issue was raised in the Legislative Assembly, the cardio unit of Ursala Hospital in Kanpur got two staff nurses.

Kanpur : On the instructions of the DM, the CMO has deployed two staff nurses to operate the cardio unit in Ursala Hospital. A demand was made for four staff nurses and four employees. Arya Nagar SP MLA Amitabh Bajpai had also raised this issue in the Assembly. Ursala administration says that the unit is being operated since March this year. National Health Mission (NHM) had given Rs 1.5 crore to Ursala Hospital under Non-Communicable Disease (MCD) in the year 2018 for a 4-bed cardio unit. Out of which Rs 1.35 crore was to be used for equipment and Rs 15 lakh for civil works. Along with this, staff had to be deployed to operate the unit. But, due to some reason the work could not be fully implemented. Due to which heart patients are not being fully treated in Ursala. Seeing the problems being faced by the patients, Arya Nagar SP MLA Amitabh Bajpai raised the issue of Ursala’s cardiology unit in the assembly. After this, District Magistrate Visakh ji instructed CMO Dr. Alok Ranjan to ensure availability of staff to operate the cardiology unit. At present the CMO has deployed two staff nurses in this unit.

Need of 13 workers including technician

For the cardio unit, 10 high back revolving chairs, 20 office and visitor chairs, eight big cupboards, 6 visitor office chairs, 4 crush carts, 10 oxygen cylinders, 10 small SS trays, 10 attendant benches, 10 oxygen regulators were found. Whereas at that time the list was said to include 21 devices. With all the equipment, the cardiac unit will be able to operate fully after getting 13 employees including heart doctor, nursing staff, ward boy, TMT technician, X-ray technician, dark room assistant and cleaning staff under NHM. At present the staff is not complete. The then CMO Dr Ashok Shukla had talked to the then director of Ursala Hospital after purchasing 21 types of equipment. On this, the then Director had got all the equipments in the list matched = in which only 9 equipments were found. A letter was written to the CMO to send the remaining equipments. Besides, a demand for staff was also made from NHM, but after a few days of commotion, the health officials forgot about the establishment of the cardio unit. Every day 20 to 25 patients come to the hospital for OPD emergency treatment.

Warranty of many equipment has expired

Bed side monitor, central monitor, deflator, TMT, echo, ABG machine, ventilator, Fowler bed, ECG machine, ultrasound machine, X-ray machine and 12 infusion pumps were purchased for the cardiology unit about 5 years ago. Whose warranty is now said to be almost over.
