Lucknow : The Yogi government has started a very important initiative in the form of ‘Bijli Mitra’ to curb electricity theft in Uttar Pradesh. Through this, people will be able to report electricity theft to the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation anonymously and will be able to catch those who steal electricity. Bijli Mitra link has been started by UPPCL.

It is worth noting that the state government is taking strict measures to stop electricity theft along with uninterrupted power supply to every family. Recently, the government has started a campaign against those who run electricity illegally without connection and give them legal connections. In this sequence, Bijli Mitra is a new initiative.

Now the complainant will not have to give personal information

Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (UPPCL) chairman M Devaraj has told that so far complaints related to power theft were made on the link and chat bot available in the UPPCL website, but in this the name of the complainant, mobile number, name of the discom and substation information was taken. Due to this people felt uncomfortable to complain.

This unique initiative has been taken to remove these inconveniences of the complainants and to detect power theft while maintaining their privacy. Corporation management is trying to get maximum number of information about power theft with them so that those who steal power can be caught. Along with this, the interests of the consumers can also be protected.

This is how you can complain about electricity theft

Complainants can now give information using the Bijli Mitra link bijlimitra.uppcl.org by visiting the homepage of the corporation’s website www.upenergy.in to tell the address of electricity theft. The page for complaint will open as soon as you click on the link. In this, the name of the person who steals electricity (if available) has to be entered. In the next column, the address of the place of electricity theft has to be entered compulsorily. After this, the name of that district also has to be entered compulsorily.

After this, if photo and video are available in the next column, then there will be facility to upload that too. After this, the department will get your information as soon as you submit the captcha code. After this, action will be taken against electricity theft as per the rules after getting it investigated within a stipulated time. In this way, the facility of giving information related to power theft is being given for the first time. Information of theft can also be sent from any cyber cafe, public information center or mobile.

Electricity users without connection are getting connection

Earlier, the Yogi government had taken the initiative to provide electricity connection to the people running without electricity connection as per the rules. In order to make this campaign a success, UPPCL Chairman M Devraj had issued an order at the departmental level, in which a provision has been made to identify all the families left out of electricity connections and give them electricity connections.

For this, the help of students, self-help groups and electrical friends will be taken. The government believes that there are a total of 3.27 crore electricity consumers in the five distribution corporations under UPPCL. Of these, the total number of connections for domestic use is 2.88 crore. Looking at the population of the state, it is clear that the total number of domestic electricity connections is less in relation to the total number of households. That is why the government has taken this decision.
